For my project at college, I need to research Fantasy, I will go into why later in this post but for now here is a bit about an Artist I have found and really love.
Hazel Brown
An Illustration Artist based in Devon, she has been exhibited in many galleries throughout her career.
She has published books and collaborated with artists such as Brian and Wendy Froud of Dark Crystal Fame, creating the calligraphy for some of their renowned fairy books.
Her work includes big abstract paintings, with also smaller works on canvas.
Her work is inspired by having grown up by the sea and an environment that seems timeless.
What I love about her work is that she works with Oil paint as well, she fits perfectly with this project that I am working on:
STRUCTURE
I am doing it on story Structure, and the theme of the paintings are Fantasy, I would like to take inspiration from both her big, more abstract pieces of work, and her Fairy Fantasy work.
She has very detailed, intricate pieces with her fantasy themed art, but with her bigger paintings she is more loose, abstract. I think my favourite of her work has to be the third image.
I will be looking into her work more and can't wait to find more of her work.
